My Approach

The foundation of my work with clients is a deep respect for each individual. Each person is like an entire world, and the exploration of that world can open new doors for growth and healing.

My approach is relational, humanistic, and person-centered. Rather than specialize in a particular modality, I have studied and worked with many psychological theories and techniques. As I come to know a client and understand what their strengths are, and what they need and want, I draw on the theories and tools that seem most likely to support my client and help them move in the direction they choose.

In addition to psychotherapy modalities, I have a great deal of life experience that helps me understand the context of some of the challenges my clients may face. I understand the challenges of balancing work, with life; of making the most of difficult relationships; of parenting, engaging in the arts, and changing careers.

Within my family, I also have experience with common mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression, addiction, disordered eating, domestic violence, and bipolar disorder.

I am open to working with any client who seems like a good fit and falls within my competencies. I have worked with clients with all sorts of issues and DSM diagnoses, including:

Depression
Anxiety
Parenting
Trauma, PTSD
Estrangement
Decision-making
Life transitions
Career change
Retirement

The better I come to know you, the better I can draw on my own knowledge, experience, and insight to support you in making the change you want in your life.
